Good weather and a long break from climbing lead Mark and I to finally finish out long fun climb up the Pear formation on Lumpy Ridge.
This little bee was digging these flowers
A nice view of the Estes Park valley from the top of the first pitch
Looking down at the first 100ft of climbing
The second pitch was definately a learning experience
Lovely views of Lumpy Ridge
The blue bead on my anklet meant it was a high UV day (from the 2nd pitch)
Keeping an eye on the western sky looking for building storms
Finally starting to have fun on the climb
The fourth pitch has one of the best cracks on the formation
Mark happily sits below a giant rock butt
Those trees are now 600ft below us
Mark is getting sunburnt but doesn't know it
Why does my hair always do this under my helmet??
The 5th pitch was tricky and fun
My anchor should be in John Long's next edition
View of the continental divide from the summit!
A neat little pool of water on top of the rock
Mark on top of the Pear!
The Citadel is behind our rock, and even taller
Looking out at the Book and Estes Park from the summit
Mark finds an awesome rest spot on top of the Pear
Looking up at the rappel from the summit
Our rap landed us in this incredible little hallway
It was creepy rapping down into this hole in the rock
Mark pulls the rope in the narrow hallway
Feeling clausterphobic yet?
