Gallery | Daily Life | Heavy Weather in Eastern Colorado: July 6, 2008

On our drive home from St. Louis, we found ourselves dodging huge storms on I-70, and stopping to watch a tornado-forming supercell move over the high planes.
Clouds and rain close in
Heavy rain to the north
We manage to pass the storm by
Looking up at blue sky above
We stopped to watch this spinning supercell
Small tornado on the ground
Rotating wall cloud with funnel clouds below
Boiling sky in the storm
Like a huge vacuum moving over the plains
Closer look at a low level cloud below the wall cloud
The funnel clouds below the wall cloud came and went quickly
Still looking for a tornado below the storm
Is the storm getting closer?
Amazingly beautiful rotation
Low clouds become more visible as the storm gets too close
