Gallery | Daily Life | Field Trip to the Ice Core Lab: February 27, 2008

As part of the class I'm teaching on Climate Change, we took a field trip to the federal center in Denver where miles and miles of ice cores are stored, processed and researched.
The class hangs out in the presentation area of the warehouse
Workers from the lab talk to some students
Door into the storage room
This guy just got back from three months in Antartica
The storage room is kept at -30C
If the door from the -10C work room opens, condensation appears
Ice from the very bottom of the Antarctic Ice Sheet
Miles and miles of ice cores in 3ft sections
Temperature Sensative Material transport
Lots of government funding!
