Hiking the Devil's Backbone: May 3, 2008
We went looking for a nice long training hike, got lost in the Poudre Canyon, and ended up in Loveland. We ended up hiking 8 miles through the Devil's Backbone open space on a beautiful sunny spring day.
Hiking to Horsetooth Reservoir: March 13, 2008
On my first day off in about four months, I took a relaxing trek on the Foothills trail. We started behind the stadium and hiked two miles up to Rotary park and then down to the reservoir on the far side, and back.

A Day Along the Poudre River: June 24, 2007
With only a few hours to spare and a desperate desire to enjoy the Colorado Summer, Mark and I traveled up the Poudre Canyon and hiked a few miles of the Big South Trail.

Mom was in town, so we had to get in some great hiking. Despite the cold wind and early onset of fall, we all made it to the summit of this 11,000ft tall peak!

We wanted to get in some altitude, so we spent a beautiful Saturday hiking the South, then the North, Diamond peaks, which loom above Cameron pass. The views of the national park, wyoming mountains, and Yampa valley were worth every step.

Summiting West White Pine Mountain: March 2006
Spring was not here yet, but Mark and I wanted to get out for a hike. We enjoyed all 4 miles to the summit of a local lookout mountain, and vowed we would be back someday to see the aspens in their full glory.
Hiking around the Pawnee Buttes: February 2006
Weeks is out visiting us for the weekend, so we decided to head out to the plains and explore a bit. The day was windy and chilly, but great weather for beautiful sandstone formations and a bit of exciting ridge running.
Hiking Mt. Bierstadt (14,060ft): July, 2005
My first 14'er was a repeat of a hike that Mark had done the fall before. 3 miles, 3,000ft of elevation gain led to a beautiful summit. And then we jogged out before being hit by a tremendous storm.
