Gallery | Hiking | A Weekend in Rocky Mtn Nat Park: July 18-20, 2008

We had big plans to climb all weekend, but when gear went missing and time slipped away, we found ourselves in beautiful places of the park, simply enjoying the hiking.
Morning views from Trail Ridge
A cold girl on vacation enjoys the views
A good number of tourists on the road already
It's quite an overlook
Beautiful rock and snow
The Poudre Lakes
Mark heads out on our hike
Where the Poudre River begins
A baby Poudre River in the snow
The little river swirls through the valley
Wildflowers and a tributary creek
Snow tunnel!
Mark hiking the Poudre River trail
A beautiful valley for the lovely river
Standing in cold mountain water
Mark gets ready to hop over a side-creek
A beautiful glacial valley that leads to the Poudre Canyon
The essence of the northern RMNP
The Poudre River runs towards the Commanche Peaks
Wildflowers in the glacial valley
Standing in the young Poudre River and looking down stream
A pretty waterfall on the side of the trail
Where it all begins
The last bridge over the Poudre River for 60 miles!
These Elk have great views for the afternoon
Trail ridge road winds around some tall mountains
Enjoying being up high in the Prius

Sunset skies over our campground
Mary's Lake campground is very large and rather pretty
We arrived at the sign at around 7:45 in the morning
Clear skies and amazing views at 8:30am
Looking west from the base of Sundance in the morning
An hour later, and the storms have blown in
Our one pitch of 5.10c crack
Stormy skies over Sundance Buttress
Not a good day to climb on that rock
